Bogdan Efremov cello biography

The soloist of the month “I have almost no memories of life without cello, she was always” Bogdan Efremov was born in the year in St. Petersburg. From the year - a student of the Moscow Central Special Music School of the College named after the Gnesin class of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Igor Zimin. In the year, he became a laureate of the I degree of the international competition of youthful performing art named after Sviridova; in m-the owner of the Grand Prix of the IV International Competition Competition on string and mild instruments named after Professor V.

Big Victory of this year-I Award of the International Competition of Young Musicians “Yamal Symphony”; For the first time, the Arctic became the venue for such a competition. Member of the programs of the St. Petersburg House of Music since the year. Bogdan Efremov: Almost everything. The first is that a competition of this level takes place in the Arctic, and even in winter. By the way, immediately at the end of the competition there were frosts before, and during the contest itself the weather was quite soft - not lower, apparently, the music contributed to warming, not otherwise.

The second is the highest level of organization of everything, to the smallest details, a lively interest of the public, a common amazingly friendly warm atmosphere. I am very glad that I was finally able to perform at a decent level, sufficient to win the first prize. You know, the competition is always much more than just a performance, the overall level of stress is much stronger.

What has become this competition for you? Bogdan Efremov: For me it was the brightest event of that year. Perhaps we can say that from this competition you can count the beginning of my path as a soloist. I was lucky that already at the age of 17 I was able to gain experience in participating in a competition of this level. Now my level of game has begun to grow much faster, as it seems to me, this is one of the consequences of participating in the Tchaikovsky competition.

SPDM: Each performer for the competition tries to choose the ideal program for himself. What were you guided by, making your program? Bogdan Efremov: Since I am still young, my repertoire is not so wide that I can make a really perfect program for the competition. I tried to choose works that I could dignily play. Already in the case of Yamal Symphony, we can talk about the perfect program - all the works I performed there were as close as possible to me in spirit.

For example, the Hindemit sonata, which I took specifically for this competition, is now one of my favorite works in the repertoire. I also played Sonata Shostakovich there, and Shostakovich, in turn, is one of my favorite composers. In his sonata, a huge number of different colors and moods, and all this is constantly intertwined with each other. How was the acquaintance with the cello?

And why did this tool appear in your life? Bogdan Efremov: When I was two years old, my mother bought developing sound posters on the wall - there are such an alphabet, geography, well, among them there was a cheerful orchestra. With this poster, it all started. I remember everything quite vaguely, it is from my mother’s words - she claims that I kept repeating so stubbornly that I needed a cello, that she tried first to pay off me with a ghoul and a small synthesizer, but I still demanded a cello.

Then, in incomplete 4 years, she brought me to a music school for general developmental classes, where I already demanded a cello from teachers, in the third lesson they surrendered and took me to my first cello teacher. Therefore, I almost have no memories of life without a cello, it was always. And yes - I don’t have musicians in my family, I am the first. Bogdan Efremov: In my childhood, baroque music constantly sounded in the house, for the most part, of course, cello.

Now I can listen to absolutely any genres and directions, as for a professional musician I am interested in everything. True, it was to baroque music that I cooled over time. SPDM: What is the most vivid impression of music: concert, work ...? Bogdan Efremov: It's hard to say here. Almost every work that you take into work is a vivid impression. There are memories of impressions of the Tchaikovsky contest, when I literally infected almost the entire program that sounded there.

Separately, I can single out the sonata for the Grieg cell - an absolutely ingenious and complex work, I did not even dare to play it yet, because the emotional intensity there is completely unrealistic. What is the phenomenon of this work?

Bogdan Efremov cello biography

Bogdan Efremov: This is a complicated emotional work. Probably, we can say that in its spirit it impresses me very much. The more you play, the more you plunge, you understand how multi -layer it is. After the First World War, Elgar generally wanted to move away from the composition and did not write anything for 4 years. This concert was one of his first post -war works.

Here there is a general interweaving of images of pain, passion, suffering along with enlightenment and hope. We can say that this is a projection of the consciousness of a person who has survived that terrible and vague time. Bogdan Efremov: Acquaintance began with the project "River of Talents".I was waiting for my flying to finally submit an application for the project.

I am glad that now I am actively participating in the projects of the House of Music - this is an amazing combination and training under the leadership of the great musician and the beautiful teacher Sergei Pavlovich Roldugin, and the possibility of gaining the experience of the game on stage. The main thing for me now is to continue to develop further as a soloist. I just recently reached a sufficient level as a musician to perform such music, so so far I have not managed to replay a lot.

The plans for the future are the first concert of Shostakovich and the Minor concert of Khachaturian. And I already know for sure that if I didn’t like something at once, then this does not mean that I will not return to this music with a new understanding. Have your hobbies change? Bogdan Efremov: The road is special in life for me. Any moments of movement, travel is something that I cannot live without.

On this side, I was very lucky with the profession. I can not imagine myself constantly sitting in one place. I really like to play chess - along with the cello, chess was almost always in my life. I periodically arrange sorties to various tournaments, I go to the local chess club. Over time, he cooled to this sport-perhaps the only time when some kind of activity became uninteresting to me.
