Biography of Sven Nurdwist


Born on April 30 in the city of Helsingborge HelsingBorg in the south of Sweden. Children's and youth years of Nurdwista took place in Halmstadt. As the writer later recalled, from the age of fifteen he dreamed of an artist’s career, but at first fate was not very favorable to him, - after graduating from school, Sven tried several times to go to various art institutions, but every time he failed at the exams.

As a result, he began to study architecture at the Higher Technical School in a small old university town Lund. Subsequently, Nurdvist lectures on architecture at a local university, worked in an advertising company in Halmstadt, issued textbooks, but a long-standing dream of becoming a professional artist still owned him, and he took part in the competition of children's illustration, which was held by OPAL.

Thus, his dream came true, and the story soon published a separate book. I myself was engaged in animation and built the house myself, therefore, participating in the illustration competition, I myself wrote a book, ”says the author.

Soon, his second book appeared-“The Poestive Pie”-the first in a series of fairy tales about the old farm-farmer Petson and his smart kitten Findus, which soon gained wide popularity in Sweden. Over time, this popularity crossed the limits of the native country - the books of Nurdwist, translated into different languages, became known in many European countries, primarily in Germany.

Initially, Nurdcvist was going to create the history of two old people constantly engaged in something important, but because of the distracting classes that are momentarily arising in their path, they were ultimately forgetting, which they initially strove so much. One of these characters was already an elderly eccentric Petson. Since Petson constantly needed the interlocutor for the development of the plot, the writer found him in the image of a fan of the Findus kitten, speaking human language.

Cartoons were shot from his books, as well as a computer game. In addition to the books about Petson and Findus, Nurdcvist is also known as an illustrator and co -author of a series of fairy tales about the adventures of the cow of my mother’s cow and her friend Raven of Swedish writers Juji and Thomas Vislanders. In the year, Nurdvist was awarded the Swedish Literary Prize Astrid Lindgren.

In the year, he received the Augustpris literary prize in the category of children's books for his book “Where is my sister? The writer is married, has two adult sons.
