Since its birth, our opera portal is an important part of its content to communicate with musicians, mainly with vocalists. Because without them, the opera is simply impossible. And wonderful opera soloists reciprocate us. Today we present to your attention an interview with Irina Sea. Irina - is not yet recognized by everyone, but she has such unique data that after a short time everyone will talk only about her if it comes to the parties of Leonora, Amelia, Maddalen, Lisa, Butterfly, Needa and Aida.
I found out about Irina a couple of years ago by chance. Daniel Orena talked about one singer with great enthusiasm. And since Daniel, in principle, does not praise anyone, and he has practically no enthusiasm for vocalists, I have never happened, I specified who we were talking about. The name "Morev" did not say anything to me then. And the Soprano party was just incredible!
And, finally, recent, truly the triumphal debut of sea Maddalen in Andre Chenier in Deutsche Oper Berlin simply “gathered the whole puzzle” - we are simply happy witnesses to the birth of the “Supernova Star”. The latter in astronomy are an incredibly rare occurrence, and even in the opera - this is an order of magnitude a more rare phenomenon ... We began an interview with the question of Andre Chenier.
Why Maddalena? Is the role close? Or does the party go to the voice well? Because the circumstances were so. This was not my will. By the time I found out that in our theater it is planned to conceive the performance of this opera, I had only a hearing of the La Mamma Morta aria, which I loved to listen to Eva Marton. Well, this is not surprising, because the opera is rarely performed despite the fact that Jordano's music is beautiful.
I think this is due to the complex tenor party, perhaps I am mistaken and there are other reasons for this. So, I had the first acquaintance with this opera in the year and it was Semistage, and already in Berlin a full -fledged debut on the Deutsche Oper Berlin stage. I can’t say that Maddalena is very close to me, only for the simple reason that she goes to such a self -sacrifice in the name of love.
And at the very beginning of the opera, she is spoiled, grown up by a girl, light, mobile, the character of which was difficult for me to convey, because I am completely different, for me suffering and drama is easier to play than such a girl's character. Turning to my life, I come to the conclusion that I did not have such feelings for which I could go to the guillotine, or to scoop myself alive, like Aida, to accept poison, like Leonora from Trubadur, etc., perhaps, Leonor from the power of fate, is more close and I, as a religious person, may understand it, I could leave the world and leave sins into sins.
The monastery, it shifts, but everything is not easy there, she wanted the fate of a flash in the mountains, away from people, without food. In general, why am I saying all this? Love is a great gift that is given from above and from above you are given strength to such exploits, so speaking of myself, without having survived such bright and deep feelings, I can only try to empathize with the help of beautiful music to bring it to the listener as truthfully as possible.
And, of course, this party fell perfectly on the voice, and became one of the favorite. Who was the first to hear your vocal prospects? I can say that there was always a voice, but I did not even consider myself in the opera, jumped more in childhood with a microphone and dreamed of singing a stage. And the first to hear the voice precisely with the prospect in the academic channel was a teacher in the concertmaster class in college, where I studied as a pianist and playing opera arias or romances with great pleasure, hummed a vocal line.
She invited me to try myself in academic vocals, but then I reacted to this is not serious, believing that it was easy to sing and all the opera singers are lazy. I don’t even remember why I have formed such an opinion. What composers or operas did you like and why? Rachmaninov and his Fis-Moll piano concert, where the main party simply makes me ecstasy, especially when it sounds in a reprise.
It is difficult to convey in words, this is what makes the soul rely, which makes you resurrect after the fall. And in Tchaikovsky in the party of Tatyana he elevates me and makes the phrase “Who are you? Is my angel the Keeper?
It would seem that just descending uncomplicated melody, but what an impact has! Which of the opera heroes and heroines do you love? Who are you not accepting? As I have already identified in the previous issue, I love Tchaikovsky and his Eugene Onegin. But, not because I don’t like no one else, but because Tatyana was one of the first parties in the Magnitogorsk Theater, not counting the week, and the first is always expensive.
But, Nedda seemed to me an insanely difficult, very difficult in the emotional intensity of the Verist party and I had the feeling that I was only doing that I overcome technical difficulties.And Tatyana was just as written for me, so I felt in her harmoniously, of course and I was close to her feelings of unrequited love, her languishing of the Russian soul, because all this was so familiar and also experienced.
It is a pity that now I am no longer fulfilling this party. I also love Lisa from the “peak lady”, but here more mature experiences, if I may say so and the chance to fulfill it was given to me only this year. So far, I have not been able to fulfill the heroines whom I do not accept, but, in the future, I think that it could be Macbeth. In life, I try not to commit actions directed against conscience, and even more so against a person leading to his physical destruction and I think that it will be difficult to get used to this image for me.
What to do if the director does not like the proposed role or the interpretation? Maybe there is a recipe or personal example of overcoming such difficulties. You know, I have never encountered this, so I have no recipe. All my heroines bear the high idea of the victory of love over everything, including death. And all the performances in which I took part were withstanding in the classical style, so I did not have to cross through my principles.
What kind of music to sing is especially easy for you to perfectly lie on the voice and soul, so that it brings the greatest joy? I think that for me this is Puccini, for example, longing and Leonor from La Forza. What was your first big performance by the public? Oooh, it was when I studied at the institute and there was seriously starting to engage in vocals.
I was sent to the first military song contest in my life and I performed Milyutin "Seagull". The performance was small, but the listeners are a full hall. And with fear, I forget the words of the second verse and sing everything on la-la-la, then I remember the chorus, I finish it and, going from the piano to the backstage, I understand that I am not to go out on stage-Ho-Chu.
Well, after that, a long way of searching, training, changes in places of residence begins. The path is long, but very interesting and I do not need another. Do you remember the school? Yes, I often remember. Exceptionally kind. We had a very friendly class. I still have one friend from the school, we are still friends. And our class teachers were very good, Olga Mikhailovna to the 3rd grade and Olga Anatolyevna further to the graduation.
Our mothers. Often they ask the question: “Do you remember your first teacher? If you did not become a singer, who would you like to be? I think the teacher. Only not in a comprehensive school. As they say, we all come from childhood, and in childhood I always sat with the magazine and put on grades to my classmates, and the magazine bought a new one to me every six months. I portrayed such a teacher.
Well, at a more conscious age I liked the concertmaster class, and I enjoyed accompanying the violin and vocalists. Please tell us one or more curly, funny or just an interesting case from my professional life thought. I don’t even know, I didn’t break my legs, my hands, too, did not fall, the scenery also did not fall on me, pah-pah-pah. I was not taken into any theater, and even in any choir, but the director of the grocery store happily took me a seller. The shopping days flowed, 7 months passed, suddenly, a call from the Magnitogorsk Theater and an invitation to the festival in a month of Viva Opera. I agree, jumping with joy behind the counter, but there is one but ... Michaela needs to be retrained to French.
Of course, I will overcome, there is no problem, just to get out of the gastronom. And, I agreed ... There is no money to a coach, I don’t know what to do ???
