BRODSIAN BROGRADE

According to professional pilots, Brodsky, like no other, managed to accurately convey the dynamics of flight. He predicted that he would receive the Nobel Prize several decades before Joseph Brodsky received the Nobel Prize in literature, he either joked or seriously predicted that he would be awarded this high award. Here is how Lev Losev, the poet and friend of Brodsky recalled this: somehow in Leningrad, visiting us, amusing the drawing of lions and naked virgins, Brodsky left the two-part from those few French words that knew: Prix Nobel?

OUI, Ma Belle. It was quite a great way to realize the element of randomness in such matters, Brodsky, apparently, always believed that he could be marked by this highly prestigious reward. The Nobel Committee always works in the strictest secret, but the rumors that Brodsky is among the nominees appeared in the beginning of the x. The poet learned that he was awarded the Nobel Prize, only in the fall of the year.

At this time, he visited London with his friend Pianist Alfred Brandel. The poet went to dine with another famous writer John Le Carre, the author of espionage novels. According to Le Carre's remembrance, they sat with Brodsky in a Chinese restaurant when they were found by Brandel's wife and said that many journalists gathered around their house, because Joseph was awarded the Nobel Prize.

Brodsky was upset primarily by what he understood - after receiving the prize, his calm life would end. He himself described the award ceremony with humor: the event in Stockholm was somewhat Hollywood-octime in nature: tailcoat, orders and medals, it is not known in which wars and for what exploits the gala processions, dancing hordes of students in cape of other corporations, choral singing, guardians, guards, brothers, banquets on a person.

After a speech at the Academy —ulut in honor of my mercy in the Stockholm sky. From all this, you feel like a liar, a crook, a usurper, a vile, insincere cattle ... The Nobel Prize forever changes Brodsky’s life: he begins to travel a lot around the world. Surprisingly, it was in Sweden that he managed to find peace and inspiration for creativity.

Starting from the year, he comes to Stockholm every summer to spend the summer months on the island of Vermde: he really likes the local nature, reminiscent of his native Leningrad. He was the “Minister of Poetry” and made an “immodest proposal” in the year Brodsky becomes a poet laureate-the official poet of the library of the US Congress, one can say something like the “Minister of Poetry” under the American president.

Usually, a person who holds this position fulfills a variety of responsibilities: he advises the library, makes lectures, organizes meetings with other famous writers. But Brodsky seemed little of this. He came up with an incredibly ambitious project, the purpose of which was to make the most reading nation from the Americans. In October, Brodsky made a speech in the library of Congress, which went down in history under the name "immodest proposal." In this speech, he expressed his main credo: in my opinion, books should come to every porch, like electricity, like milk in England, like communal amenities, and the price should be minimal.

And in any case, poems should be sold in pharmacies, if only because they will brighten up an account from which you are horrified. And of course, the anthology of American poetry should lie in the nightstand of each hotel room next to the Bible, which will not object to such proximity, it does not complain about the neighborhood of a telephone reference book. Joseph Brodsky became the first poet laureate to actively spread poetry in the United States.

He was sure that poetry was for everyone, and “for a guy driving a garbage truck. To carry out his project, Brodsky chose six American poets, took their best poems and released a collection, the spread of which took up with his students. First, the collections drawn up by Brodsky distributed free of charge in hotels and trains. But soon they began to enjoy such popular that Ford began to invest a volume of poetry in the glove compartment of each new car, and Lancome gave them along with its new fragrance “Poeme”.

Very loved by Kotov Brodsky and the Cat of Mississippi. Source: a frame from the documentary “Brodsky Non -Poet” Joseph Brodsky adored Kotov, sorted out their psychology and knew how to get along very well with them. The poet often compared himself to cats, calling them his totem animals. Brodsky expressed a special location to the guest by suggesting that he wake up a cat for him, and the phone could well finish the telephone, saying “meow-hum”.

But the most beloved was the Mississippi cat, who for many years was almost the only member of the family for Brodsky. When the poet was asked why he called the cat so, Brodsky replied that in his name there are as many letters “C” as in the name of the country from which he is from.
