Biography of Palestine
Israeli-Palestinian conflict: how it all started and what the author of the photo is happening, Getty Images on May 12 Hundreds of Palestinians and more than 20 Israeli police officers suffered as a result of clashes in Jerusalem. The last outbreak of violence occurred after a month of voltage growth, although the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians has been going on for decades.
How did it all start?
On those lands, the majority were Arabs, the Jews were in the minority. The tension between the two peoples increased when the international community set Britain the task of creating a "national house" for Jews in Palestine. For the Jews, it was the house of their ancestors, but the Palestinian Arabs also claimed the earth and opposed such a step. Violence also grew - between Jews and Arabs and against British domination.
In the year, the UN voted for the Palestine division into separate Jewish and Arab states, Jerusalem became an international city. This plan was adopted by Jewish leaders, but rejected the Arab side, and it has never been implemented. Many Palestinians were against, the war began. Troops from neighboring Arab states invaded the country. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians fled or were evicted from houses - they call it al -Nakba, or "disaster".
Next year, the fighting ended in the ceasefire, Israel at that time controlled most of the territory. Jordan occupied the lands, which began to be called the western coast, and Egypt - Gaza. Jerusalem was divided between Israeli forces in the West and Jordan in the East. Since the peace agreement was never concluded, each party accused the other - in the next decades, battles continued.
Today, during another war in the year, Israel occupied East Jerusalem and the West Coast, most of the Syrian Golan Heights, as well as the Gaza Sector and the Egyptian Sinai Peninsula. Most Palestinian refugees and their descendants live in the gas sector and on the western coast, as well as in neighboring Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. Neither to them, nor their descendants of Israel allowed to return to his homes - Israel states that this would enforce the country and threatens its existence as a Jewish state.
Israel claims all Jerusalem as its capital, while the Palestinians claim East Jerusalem as the capital of the future Palestinian state. The USA is one of the few countries that recognized Israeli’s claims to the whole city. Over the past 50 years, Israel has built settlements in these areas where more Jews live. Palestinians say that this is illegally according to international law and is an obstacle to peace, but Israel denies this.
What is happening now? Palestinians in the gas sector and on the western shore say that they suffer due to Israeli and restrictions. Israel states that it acts only with the aim of protecting against Palestinian violence. The situation was aggravated with the beginning of the Holy Muslim month of Ramadan in mid -April. Every night there are clashes between the police and the Palestinians.
The threat of eviction of some Palestinian families in Eastern Jerusalem also caused anger. There are a number of questions on which Israel and Palestinians cannot agree. In particular, what should happen to Palestinian refugees whether Jewish settlements should remain or be destroyed on the occupied west, whether both sides should share Jerusalem, and - perhaps the most difficult of all - whether the Palestinian state should be created along with Israel.
Peace negotiations have been underway and stop for more than 25 years, but still the conflict has not been resolved. What will happen next? In short - in the near future the conflict will not stop. The last peaceful plan prepared by the United States during the presidency of Donald Trump, who was called the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu, called the Palestinians as “unilateral”.
